Simply Reliable can now add the words “patent pending” to its Design Machine software. The law firm of Nutter, McClennen & Fish is representing Simply Reliable and the three patent holders, Tom Coffin, Chris Jaffe, and Jonathan Knapp. The patent application was filed in September. The patent will cover the unique process used to automate the creation of drawings.
“Since its release, Design Machine has been a huge success,” stated Simply Reliable’s VP of business development Tom Coffin.
Design Machine software automatically creates block schematic drawings, cable schedules, and wire labels in a matter of minutes rather than hours and days. Created in 2002, Simply Reliable’s SmartOffice is business process software designed to assist integrators in incorporating “process” into their business.
“SmartOffice users benefitted by adding Design Machine to their arsenal but now we have made it available as a standalone product so that all can benefit,” explained Jaffe, who serves as Simply Reliable’s vice president.
“Design Machine is being positioned to be a platform that other software manufacturers can work with to simplify the process of creating drawings and documentation,” added Knapp, who serves as the company’s president. “This will benefit the integrators, manufacturers, and end-users. We’re pretty excited about that and will have more announcements in the coming days and weeks.”
Five versions are available; Design Machine Standard, Design Machine for AMX, Design Machine for Control4, Design Machine for Crestron, and Design Machine for Smartoffice. Each version is priced at $499 per year but they are on sale through December 31, 2011 for $399 per year as an introductory special. Also on sale through the same time period are the two Product Bundles for $749 per year or The Big Bundle (ALL) for $999 per year.
