Santa Barbara, CA–Sonos has launched European operations and will begin shipping its digital music system to European clients in June.
The Sonos Digital Music System is a multi-zone digital music system with a wireless, full-color LCD screen controller that lets consumers play their digital music in any zone of the home.
Sonos’ European operations will be located in Hilversum, Netherlands, and will be lead by managing director of European Sales Ingvar Meijers. Before joining Sonos, Meijers lead European sales at Sitecom, and spent more than nine years at Microsoft, where he was instrumental in the European launch of the Xbox.
“European demand for a multi-room digital music device has been building over the past two years,” said Ingvar Meijers, director of Sales Europe, Sonos, Inc. “The popularity of digital music in Europe continues to exceed analyst expectations and I am thrilled to help bring Sonos to the digital music lovers of Europe.”
“Since we launched the product in January, demand from abroad has been overwhelming,” said John MacFarlane, CEO, Sonos, Inc. “We are pleased to bring our award-winning music system to digital music lovers throughout Europe and hope to provide them with the ultimate multi-room home music listening experience.”
The Sonos Digital Music System is comprised of two components: the Sonos ZonePlayer, a networked audio player that distributes, plays and amplifies music in any “zone” in the home, and the Sonos Controller, a wireless handheld device with a full-color screen.
