Sony Releases Projector Firmware Updates

Sony Electronics has released new firmware updates for five current projector models.

Sony Electronics has released new firmware updates for five current projector models. The projector models receiving a firmware update are: VPL-HW65ES, VPL-HW45ES, VPL-VW5000ES, VPL-VW665ES and VPL-VW365ES.

The updates for the VPL-VW5000, VPL-VW665, and VPL-VW365 add the software features that Sony announced for the VPL-VW675 at CEDIA this year. They add the HDR Contrast function to the Picture Menu (when viewing HDR content) to allow adjustment of the average screen brightness, automatic selection of BT2020 color space when receiving such content, and an HDR indicator in the Information Menu when HDR content is being received.

Software version 1.301 for the VPL-HW65ES/HW45ES adds support for the Sony unified control protocol (common protocol / ADCP), adds minor bug fixes, and removes the Remote Start function from Network Management (VPL-HW65ES).

Version 4.301 for the VPL-VW5000ES further improves HDR-related functionality, adds a Lens Center Return function, improving overall picture quality, and addresses minor bug fixes.
