Wisdom Audio, the manufacturer of planar magnetic in-wall speakers, has gained product certification from TÜV SÜD America Inc. for its Sage Series line of electronics. This certification ensures that Sage Series products meet applicable electrical safety requirements in the U.S., Canada, and Europe, according to the company.
“We already had a tremendous amount of confidence in our electronic designs, but we wanted to go one step beyond and have them certified by an independent lab in order to provide our customers the utmost confidence in our products that self-certification just can’t yield,” explained Mark Glazier, Wisdom Audio president. “We chose TÜV SÜD because of their history and standing in the international community. TÜV SÜD’s stringent testing procedures and parameters are what we desired to prove our products’ ability to meet and exceed domestic and international regulations, and we are very pleased with the results.”
Wisdom Audio’s Sage Series SA-1, SA-2, and SA-3 amplifiers, as well as the SC-1 System Controller, were tested and passed domestic, Canadian, and European electrical safety requirements. As part of the ongoing certification process, TÜV SÜD America representatives will visit Wisdom Audio’s manufacturing facility quarterly to ensure that products being manufactured are identical to the certified product, and the manufacturing controls remain in place to support compliance with applicable certification standards.
“Product manufacturers who recognize the importance of certifying their products can benefit from the opportunities the process generates,” stated Steve Dykstra, vice president of testing for TÜV SÜD America. “We are honored that the staff at Wisdom Audio chose TÜV SÜD America to certify their products based upon our testing procedures and reputation.”
Wisdom Audio’s SC-1 System Controller incorporates an electronic crossover, parametric equalization, and acoustic room correction that includes Audyssey MultEQ XT technology. It also offers selectable, RS-232 operable memory settings for optimized performance in varied acoustic settings for music and film environments. A PC-based installation application allows a professional installer to configure the SC-1 for the particular complement of Sage Series speakers used in a given installation.
The bi-amplified Sage Series includes dedicated low-frequency amplifiers for both its full-range speakers and subwoofer to ensure optimal in-room low frequency response. Respectively, these amplifiers are the SA-3 (3 x 500W) and the SA-2 (2 x 500W) for full-range speakers, and the SA-1 (1000W) for the subwoofer.
