Sound Developments has wrapped up its 2014 Western Canada Dealer Summit. The event, held at the company’s headquarters in Richmond, British Columbia on June 4 and June 5, was keynoted by CEDIA fellow, author, and technology expert Michael Heiss, who discussed future technology developments that included Apple HomeKit and 4K video.

Eleven manufacturers and nearly 80 dealers and integrators from western Canada descended on the summit for education and product demonstrations. Sales trainings were presented to attendees by Sound Developments president Barry Wosk and participating manufacturers Pete Baker of RTI, Jim Groover of Stewart Filmscreen, and Noah Kaplan of Leon Speakers.

A mini trade show highlighted products from the Sound Developments roster of manufacturers, including tabletop presentations and demos from iDocx, Insteon, Just Add Power, Pro Control, and RTI. In addition, three home theater demo rooms showcased products from Digital Projection, Leon Speakers, Procella Audio, Stewart Filmscreen, and Triad Speakers.

“Our dealer summit was a resounding success,” stated Barry Wosk, president of Sound Developments. “Not only did we draw many of the best integrators from the Vancouver area, but we also had ten to fifteen people fly into Vancouver from as far away as Winnipeg. Our attendee survey showed that dealers were very happy with both the educational sessions and the product presentations. The participating manufacturers were pleased with the number and the quality of the dealers that attended, and several manufacturers stated that they would be interested in participating in annual dealer summit events.”

Building upon the success of this event, Sound Developments plans a similar Summit for Eastern Canada dealers, tentatively scheduled to take place in the Toronto area in October.
