Yamaha’s YSP-2500 sound bar with wireless subwoofer launches this month for an MSRP of $999.95. It creates five discrete “sound beams” that bounce off the walls of a room to immerse the listener in lifelike sound with exceptional presence, detail, and clarity. It also includes Yamaha’s critically acclaimed Digital Sound Projector technology.
The YSP-2500 streamlined model also addresses the challenges presented by the thinner bezels and lower stands of the latest TV models. At only two inches tall, the YSP-2500 has a remarkably slim profile that can be placed in front of most TVs without blocking the screen. It can also be wall mounted using an optional bracket.
“The YSP-2500 shatters the common wisdom about performance from low-profile sound bars,” said Bob Goedken, general manager, AV products, Yamaha Corporation of America. “The surround sound realism is the closest you can get to a multi-speaker home theater, but with the quick, easy setup that a sound bar offers. Only Yamaha sound beam technology can deliver this experience.”
The YSP-2500 employs sixteen amplifiers and sixteen speaker drivers in a rigid aluminum chassis with a brushed-aluminum top panel that not only provides a luxurious look, but also aids in reducing unnecessary vibrations to improve sound clarity.
Yamaha IntelliBeam technology makes it easy for a user to auto-calibrate the optimum sound field for any room in which it is placed. Dolby True HD and DTS-HD Master Audio provide high-definition audio processing while three HDMI inputs with 4K 50/60p pass-through support ensure the highest-quality connectivity.
Two unique features make the YSP-2500 perfect for late-night TV watching – a target playback mode that points the “sound beams” to a single listening location and a headphone jack on the front panel that also provides a surround sound listening experience.
The YSP-2500 features Bluetooth for music streaming from smartphones, tablets and computers, which also enables control of the sound bar (select inputs, surround modes, etc.) via Yamaha’s Home Theater Controller app for Apple iOS and Android devices. It also supports aptX, providing superior sound quality when streaming music from compatible mobile devices.
