ZeeVee Inc. has added closed captioning capability to its line of digital signage and HD video distribution gear.
The company’s ZvBoxes are designed to distribute any VGA or HD video source as an HDTV channel over existing coax. To see the source, the Zv channel is tuned in at any connected HDTV, using its built-in tuner.
With the introduction of the new ZvCC adapter, closed captions can be included in the Zv channel broadcast.
“In any HD video distribution application where crowd noise is a factor, or where the display may be muted, passing Closed Captions is critical,” ZeeVee Inc CEO Vic Odryna said. “That includes sports bars, stadiums, hospitals, etc., where closed captions allow the viewer to ‘read’ what is being said.”
The ZvCC, a compact module that resembles a VGA connector, actually contains an entire TV tuner. It can be added to any of the company’s current ZvBoxes (including those already in the field), is currently shipping, and has an MSRP of $149.
