With consumer-grade 3D displays hitting retail shelves, and national advertising finding its way to living rooms around the country, now is a good time to learn all there is to know about the technology that seems more controversial than popular (see John Sciacca’s blog “3D: I kind of already hate you” to see what I mean).

Whether you like the idea of 3D or simply want to find a way to make a buck off it, now’s the time to learn what you need to know to sell it most effectively.

Next week, Residential Systems is sponsoring CEDIA’s free PowerHour webinar on the topic of 3D, from Noon to 1pm, on April 7, that we hope will answer questions about the topic and bring to light new sales and installation opportunities for the custom integration channel.

“Preparing for 3D Now!”
Wednesday, April 7,
Noon to 1pm
Free 0.5 CEUs

The session’s moderator, Chris Chinnock of Insight Media, gave a two-hour seminar on the topic at EHX in Orlando last week. Like he did for EHX, Chinnock will gear his session specifically toward system integrators and retailers and provided information on all aspects of the 3D TV and projector ecosystem.

The webinar will examine 3D formats, compression types, passive vs. active glasses, and content types.

By the end of this course, attendees should be able to describe the basic system requirements, including cables, glasses and source equipment; describe the differences between various formats, such as checkerboard, over-under, and left-right; and identify the advantages and disadvantages to both active and passive glasses formats.

For CEDIA members, the session can earn you 0.5 CEU credits, and, again, it’s free to everyone. I hope you can attend. Register here.
