ASCENDO Immersive Audio will premiere its THE8 PRO Passive LED Wedge speaker at ISE 2026. THE8 PRO was created to provide high-performance immersive audio in intimate LED-wall environments such as home cinemas, premium screening rooms, and post-production facilities.
These spaces are changing fast: screens are getting larger, LED walls are getting thinner, the spaces above and below the screen are shrinking, and architects want every surface to look clean. Yet dialog must lock to the image, pans must read with precision, and dynamics must feel effortless — for every seat, not just the sweet spot. Delivering reference-level audio imaging and impact when there’s little space left for loudspeakers is the new installation challenge.
THE8 PRO’s enclosure was shaped around this installation reality. Shallow is king for LED walls, so this speaker delivers high SPL and control from a compact depth. Height is intentionally minimized so designers can maximize screen area — often wall-to-wall — without sacrificing sound.
Point-Source Design
Built on ASCENDO’s point-source coaxial heritage and the multi-entry waveguide concept introduced with the company’s THE HALO 10, THE8 PRO brings coherence back to the front of the room. By allowing mid and high frequencies to share one waveguide, the design behaves like a true point source — with precise timing on- and off-axis and a far more consistent directivity match through the crossover region. Audio snaps into place, with dialog that is anchored, believable pans, and a continuous soundstage. Point-source coherence makes pans read as a continuous motion — not a handoff between drivers — so creative decisions translate.
Coverage is handled with purpose: 100-degree horizontal x 60-degree vertical dispersion, combined with a 12-degree wedge geometry. Mounted above the screen, THE8 PRO naturally fires downward; mounted below, it fires upward — placing energy into the listening area instead of the ceilings and floors. ASCENDO chose this wedge angle to provide ideal vertical coverage for typical cinema and screening layouts, supporting rooms up to roughly three seating rows and around 15 meters (45 feet) deep.
In LED-wall deployments where a physical center speaker behind the image isn’t possible, the top-and-bottom topology can also be used to perceptually rebuild the missing source at the screen location by creating a stable phantom image.
THE8 PRO uses a horizontal D’Appolito-style woofer arrangement flanking the central coaxial 8-inch point source. The dual high-power 8-inch woofers cover approximately 75–250 Hz, adding cinematic punch and authority while supporting consistent coverage across the audience.
Three-way Passive Design
THE8 PRO Passive LED Wedge is a three-way passive design built for the moments people remember. With a 75 Hz–20 kHz frequency response and up to 131 dB max SPL, it delivers the kind of headroom that turns a loud system into a convincing one: a whisper that feels intimate, a crescendo that feels physical, and imaging that makes the picture feel larger than the screen itself.
Mounting and integration are part of the acoustic design, including keyhole hangers for fast horizontal/vertical mounting, side V-brackets for wall/ceiling installation with precise aiming, and invisible mounts using a 90-degree bayonet-style fastener for tight-access scenarios where the screen is already installed. A cable groove accommodates SpeakON connections and premium cabling while keeping the enclosure flush to the wall.
ISE 2026 attendees are invited to experience THE8 PRO at the Luxury Immersion Cinema at stand #2J500.
