AudioControl has introduced the Hyperion Series of high-performance home theater products. The Hyperion Series represents the fusion of AudioControl’s 50 years of success in audio design and innovation with the networking expertise of AVPro Edge.
The Hyperion APR-16 Surround Processor
The Hyperion APR-16 is a 16-channel surround processor that is designed to accommodate complex home cinema configurations with independent signal-path optimization, enabling AV professionals to precisely design and tune each system to suit any room.
The APR-16 features 32-bit ESS Sabre DACs, studio-grade pixel-accurate HDMI video, 24-bit/192 kHz sampling rate support, and a comprehensive array of analog outputs with extensive routing capabilities. The platform includes a robust API compatible with any control system. Built-in HDCP and EDID management ensure compatibility between sources and displays. Dante/AES67 integration enables network audio distribution. To accommodate multi-zone entertainment systems, the APR-16 includes a built-in 4-port Ethernet switch with Dante/AES67 capability (2 in/2 out). Dante functionality will be expanded to 16 channels through a future firmware update.
Hyperion products are professionally designed to adhere to all 22 benchmarks for audio design by CEDIA/CTA-RP22.
Hyperion Series Home Theater Amplifiers
Hyperion Series high-performance home theater amplifiers are available in three models (Tetra, Penta, and Hepta), featuring 4, 5, and 7 channels of output, respectively. Integrators can mix and match models within a consistent platform to achieve sonic purity and detail while maintaining a consistent aesthetic in any rack or AV furniture. Hyperion Series amplifiers leverage AudioControl’s G4 Class H architecture, which intelligently delivers full power with less heat than traditional Class AB designs. All Hyperion models feature AudioControl’s proprietary LightDrive circuitry that detects clipping before it reaches the speakers, intervening to preserve dynamic range while protecting the loudspeakers from damage. This feature offers real-world protection during loud, dynamic movie passages to keep systems running flawlessly. Hyperion amplifiers also feature heavy-duty 5-way binding posts, balanced XLR inputs, unbalanced RCA inputs with pass-through, and a 12V trigger input for easy integration with any control system.
Hyperion Series amplifiers feature native Dante/AES67 support, enabling low-latency network audio distribution over standard IP infrastructure. This makes them a natural companion to the Hyperion APR-16 and AXIS immersive sound processors, allowing integrators to build fully networked, high-channel-count systems without the complexity of traditional analog wiring. Hyperion amplifiers also feature heavy-duty 5-way binding posts, balanced XLR inputs, unbalanced RCA inputs with pass-through, and a 12V trigger input for easy integration with any control system.
Hyperion Axis eARC-to-Dante Converters
Hyperion Axis eARC-to-Dante converters are available in 2-channel and 10-channel models, which are purpose-built for today’s display-driven, network-based audio designs. Axis products extract high-bitrate audio via eARC or digital inputs and inject it directly into Dante and AES67 networks. The Axis10 is designed for immersive, multi-channel living spaces, while the Axis2 provides streamlined stereo connectivity for secondary rooms.
Together, the Axis Series allows audio systems to be tailored for each space. With onboard processing, the Axis10 delivers decoding for up to eight channels of Dolby Atmos or DTS-HD formats along with speaker tuning and calibration, EQ, crossover, delay, and gain control, all handled at the network edge to reduce reliance on external processors. Axis10 also includes a dedicated stereo downmix output. The Axis2 and Axis10 pair with the new Hyperion Tetra, Penta, and Hepta amplifiers, as well as existing Dante-enabled Director platforms.
