DeepStereo by LESON Promises to Bring 3D Immersive Audio to the Masses

DeepStereo is a new immersive audio standard that is compatible with all headphones, speakers, and soundbars.

Stereo is dead, long live DeepStereo! LESON, a spin-off from Music Unit, has launched DeepStereo, a plugin (VST, AAX, AU) that can transform any sound into a 3D immersive audio experience in real-time — without the need for specialized hardware or complex setup. The result of over a decade of R&D and based on patented technology, DeepStereo is compatible with all headphones, speakers, and soundbars.

DeepStereo Upmixer

The 3D audio market is booming, but it has so far remained exclusive to large studios or closed ecosystems. With DeepStereo, LESON introduces a technology that upends these paradigms and goes beyond merely converting stereo formats into 3D audio. It answers a 50-year-old industry dream: to democratize immersive audio by making it simple, powerful, and universal.

“We want DeepStereo to become what MP3 was for music or JPEG was for images: a universal, simple format compatible with all uses,” says Julien Chirol, co-founder of Music Unit and LESON. “With this technology, any sound content — even poorly recorded mono — can gain depth, width, and intensity. It’s an invisible revolution, but immediately perceptible to the ear: creators don’t have to change their tools or formats, and listeners rediscover what they were already listening to, with an unprecedented sense of immersion.”

DeepStereo is based on patented technology developed over 12 years of research by LESON, in collaboration with institutions such as CNRS, École Polytechnique, and CNSMDP. At its core is MyBeeKnows, a patented binaural synthesis engine capable of replicating human hearing by mimicking the subtle time and tonal differences between the two ears. This process “tricks” the brain, enabling it to perceive realistic spatialization without signal degradation and without specialized hardware. The result: a stunning immersive experience using simple headphones or speakers.

Thanks to exclusive algorithms, DeepStereo offers ultra-accurate 3D audio transformation without artifacts or quality loss. Coupled with a “crosstalk cancellation” process that optimizes spatial perception on standard speakers, the technology ensures maximum compatibility with all existing audio formats (mono, stereo, 5.1, etc.). This simple yet powerful solution meets the demands of both the most discerning creators and audiophiles, blending technical performance with ease of use.

3D Audio Accessible to All

Where 3D audio has previously been the domain of a tech-savvy elite, DeepStereo makes immersive sound accessible to all. For the user, it’s not just about widening the stereo space: DeepStereo recreates a vivid, enveloping soundstage, making you feel at the heart of the sound — all without changing devices or reconfiguring anything.

For creators, it’s an invisible yet immediately audible revolution: productions gain new dimension, video games become more immersive, and platforms enhance user experience without altering original files. Studios, labels, streaming platforms, and manufacturers can integrate DeepStereo into their existing workflows to amplify listening quality…and emotion.

Unveiled in preview at CES Las Vegas, DeepStereo has already won over industry professionals. At the NAMM Show 2025, LESON officially announced a strategic partnership with Merry Electronics, a leading Taiwanese manufacturer in acoustics, to integrate DeepStereo into a range of consumer devices, from smartphones to embedded audio systems.

In France, the Cité de la Musique has adopted DeepStereo for the production and distribution of its audiovisual content. DeepStereo is also integrated into the Sonic HR by NOUS Digital, an immersive audio headset used in museums, offering 3D spatialization for cultural tours.
