According to high-performance subwoofer brand HYPERSUB, there is a gap between subwoofer lab results and in-room reality. HYPERSUB is engineered to bridge that gap, reaching into the ultra-low frequencies that are essential for real cinematic impact, while delivering the integration, precision, and performance required for today’s advanced immersive audio systems.

“Too many subwoofers that looked fit-for-purpose on manufacturer spec sheets did not deliver the fidelity expected by audio enthusiasts once deployed in a room. HYPERSUB was created to change that,” says Nyal Mellor, system designer for HYPERSUB and founder of Acoustic Frontiers. “By integrating room-centric system design with precision-engineered transducers and matched amplification, we’ve built a platform that performs predictably — seat to seat, system to system.”

The HYPERSUB Frontier is the product of a close collaboration between Mellor and Harbottle Audio. Mellor defines the performance goals and integration methodology, and Harbottle, based in Alberta, Canada, designs and builds the custom transducers and amplifiers that achieve those goals. Every HYPERSUB system is verified to a 1% performance tolerance through 2000-plus QC points, far exceeding industry norms, and backed by independent NWAA Labs testing (AES-75 and ANSI/CTA-2010B) that underpins published specifications.

HYPERSUB systems are engineered from the room outward. Shallow-depth sealed enclosures, precision-matched DSP amplification, and compatibility with Trinnov Waveforming and Dirac ART make design, installation, and calibration clean and predictable — and aligned to the RP-22 framework for immersive audio excellence.

The Frontier Series

  • F-15: Compact, shallow-depth sealed design with custom 15-inch drivers. F-15 is designed for smaller theaters or behind-screen integration, powered by the HYPERSUB 422D (4 × 2200 watts RMS).
  • F-21: High-excursion 21-inch sealed system for medium to large rooms; engineered for ultra-low distortion output and infrasonic reach when paired with the 422D.
  • F-24: Dual-opposed 24-inch infinite-baffle module that disappears into risers or baffle walls, powered by the 224D/C amplifier (2 × 2400 watts DSP) to extend system performance deeply into the infrasonic range.

HYPERSUB is available now through hypersubwoofers.com. HYPERSUB supports its partners by providing the information and tools integrators rely on to achieve predictable results. It delivers detailed and accurate measured specifications, including independently measured frequency response and maximum SPL output at NWAA Labs, validated to both AES75 and CEA-2010 standards. The company also strengthen a dealer’s ability to achieve defined RP22 performance levels through engineering services that model the in-room performance of the specified HYPERSUB system—predicting SPL capability, frequency response, low-frequency extension, and seat-to-seat consistency before a single cabinet is installed.
