McIntosh has launched the DS200 Streaming DAC, which is aimed at music enthusiasts who demand a combination of high-end audio quality and seamless streaming capabilities. The DS200 was designed for listeners who already have compatible power amplifiers and preamplifiers and are just missing the high-end streaming component to complete their audio systems.
Compatible with Spotify Connect, TIDAL Connect, Apple AirPlay 2, Bluetooth, and Google Cast, the DS200 streams playlists during family gatherings or parties. Equipped with two Wi-Fi antennas and one Bluetooth antenna for stable wireless connections, as well as an Ethernet port for wired connections, the DS200 ensures a seamless streaming experience. The device is also compatible with Google Assistant, allowing voice control for managing the audio setup.
The DS200 features a next-generation Quad Balanced 8-channel, 32-bit Digital-to-Analog Converter. As a Roon Ready endpoint, it integrates seamlessly with the Roon music player, offering enhanced music experiences with rich metadata and certified streaming technology. It has also received Roon Tested certification as it has been profiled by Roon to ensure simple setup and effortless daily use.
In addition to streaming capabilities, the DS200 boasts eight digital audio inputs, supporting high-resolution digital audio playback, including DSD512 and DXD up to 384 kHz via USB, and 24-bit/192 kHz via coax and optical inputs. The HDMI (ARC) input transforms TV and movie audio experiences beyond the capabilities of traditional TV speakers and soundbars, converting Dolby and DTS multi-channel formats into 2-channel audio for superior playback.
The DS200 offers both balanced and unbalanced analog outputs, facilitating seamless integration with any existing audio system. It is factory-set in fixed output mode, with an option to switch to variable output mode for direct connection to a power amplifier, allowing the DS200 to control volume in a fully digital audio setup.
The DS200 Streaming DAC embodies McIntosh’s timeless design, featuring a black glass front faceplate, rotary control knobs, an illuminated logo, and custom-machined aluminum end caps. Additional features include a Data IN port, Power Control ports, and an RS232 Control port. A remote control is included for added convenience.
