Specialty distributor Vana Ltd has announced that the REKKORD Audio M500 turntable is available in the U.S. REKKORD has designed the M500 to be a sub-chassis manual 33/45/78 turntable priced more affordably than competitive models. The M500 brings a floating sub-chassis to its modern design, with the necessary mass to eliminate extraneous noise by reducing vibrations to inaudible levels.
“The M500’s slim design allows it to fit into nearly any living environment, but its appearance belies an intricate design built to exacting audiophile standards,” says Roy Feldstein, CTO Vana Ltd., exclusive North American importer of REKKORD turntables. “It’s another example of how REKKORD steps back and takes a fresh approach to every product it designs, with equal emphasis on efficiency and performance.”
The REKKORD M500 (MSRP: $799; or $899 with an Ortofon 2M blue cartridge) employs four parabolic springs, decoupling the tonearm and motor from the chassis, to reduce outside interference. Turntable leveling is unnecessary thanks to three buffered aluminum feet that combine with the cardan tonearm mount to ensure leveling is always accurate.
Similar to the company’s fully automatic turntables, the manual M500 features high-precision anti-skating and tracking force settings that are accurate out of the box.
The M500 audiophile-grade three-speed turntable is equipped with a custom-designed 8.3-inch ultra-low mass (ULM) aluminum tonearm with cardan bearings. A massless tracking force adjustment optimizes the center of gravity at the center of the bearing, maximizing performance and lifetime of vinyl recordings, and the heavy aluminum platter includes a dampening ring to suppress resonances and minimize wow and flutter.
