StormAudio Launches Core 16+ Processor

Expands the Core 16’s channel capacity and adds advanced features via a software upgrade.

StormAudio has announced the release of the Core 16+, an enhanced version of its Core 16 processor. The Core 16+ introduces expanded channel capability and includes StormAudio’s most powerful advanced features as standard.

StormAudio Core 16+ processor

“With the Core 16+, we set out to deliver a processor that is designed to handle increasingly complex home theater systems while staying true to our ‘Core’ principles: performance and reliability,” says Olivier Thumerel, CEO at StormAudio. “Just as importantly, we believe in giving our customers more without raising costs unnecessarily and keeping our promise of future-proof products. The Core 16+ offers significant advancements without inflating the price, which is something we’re very proud of.”

With support for up to 18 discrete audio channels, the Core 16+ gives installers and home cinema designers expanded freedom to deliver more ambitious, high-impact speaker layouts, including today’s reference-standard 9.4.4 configurations.

Through a software upgrade, the Core 16+ includes as standard several of StormAudio’s most advanced technologies that were previously only available through an optional license package. Expert Bass Routing gives integrators precision control over low-frequency energy across multiple subwoofers, while StormXT expands spatial realism by generating ambient content in otherwise silent speakers. The inclusion of an HDMI Dual Zone Matrix adds greater flexibility for multi-room video distribution.

lmmersive format support with the Core 16+ is comprehensive, including Dolby Atmos, DTS:X Pro, Auro-3D, and IMAX Enhanced. Room optimization is handled by the latest version of Dirac Live, with Active Room Treatment license included for real-time, spatially aware correction.

Up to 20 parametric EQs can be applied to each channel, and the processor can drive four-way active crossovers as well as any number of subwoofers, meeting the needs of the most demanding acoustic environments.

In keeping with StormAudio’s philosophy of future-ready design, all existing Core 16 units can be upgraded via the Optional License Package after they have been updated to the 4.7 firmware, enabling the same 18-channel capabilities and advanced features as the Core 16+. This ensures long-term scalability and investment protection for current users. This software-based upgrade is completely seamless — no hardware modifications, no downtime.
