CasaTunes Musicbox 6 Delivers Design Tool for DIY

The Configurator Tool from CasaTunes provides DIY customers with a complete set of documentation, simplifying the installation, maintenance and troubleshooting of the musicBox 6-based whole-house audio system.

CasaTunes, the streaming multi-room music solutions company, has created a design tool to enable the do-it-yourself (DIY) customer to “easily plan and implement” a fully customized whole-house music system.

The Configurator Tool provides customers with a complete set of documentation, simplifying the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of the company’s musicBox 6-based whole-house audio system. As a cloud-based service, the Configurator Tool allows customers to create, save, and view the project at any time.

“We wanted an easy way for the DIYer to evaluate and configure how to set up their music in their home,” said Steve Guerra, VP of business development at CasaTunes. “To make sure they have all the necessary technology pieces to do what they planned and a step-by-step installation guide, we developed the Configurator Tool.”

The process takes less than five minutes, according to the company, starting with the command, “Define your rooms.” These are the rooms throughout the house where music will play. The user simply names them and, as each new room is added, the configuration tool automatically displays the appropriate musicBox 6 server along with any components. The dynamic detailed report includes a quote and a link to order the system based on the project’s specifications.

Once their musicBox 6 system arrives, DIY customers can follow step-by-step instructions to wire their musicBox 6 system. The instructions, which are generated by the Configurator Tool, are designed to eliminate any wiring-related setup issues. Once all of the musicBox 6 connections have been completed, the customer is prompted to power up their equipment, and press the “Configure my musicBox” button to upload their project configuration to their musicBox 6. Once the musicBox 6 is set up, the customer simply downloads the latest native CasaTunes Apps for Android and iOS to control the musicBox 6.

Room speakers are configured in the normal Stereo mode. Under Advanced Options, room speakers can be configured in Bridged mode which provides up to four times the power to the speaker, or powered by an existing AV receiver, ideal for those homes that have one or more existing AV receivers installed such as home theater equipment. The Configurator Tool automatically configures the musicBox for the DIY customer, such that each room is controlled the same, regardless of how the room speakers are powered.

Each musicBox 6 includes a four-stream CasaTunes music server, a six-room power amplifier, six keypads, and an IR remote. Each stream is like a stand-alone music player, providing each family member a dedicated player. The musicBox 6 is available for 6, 12, and 18 rooms.

The musicBox 6 automatically discovers the music in a home and plays it all in 24-bit/192Khz audio. The musicBox 6 plays the music where it is stored, or it can copy the music onto its 320GB disc, included with the musicBox 6. In addition to disc music, the musicBox 6 plays music stored on DLNA or uPnP media servers, streams music from popular Internet music services, such as Deezer, Groove, SHOUTcast, Spotify, TIDAL, TuneIn, and streams music from any App on one or more iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices to any room in the home.

The musicBox 6 is available direct to consumers and starts at $1,899. Details and how to order the musicBox 6 can be found on the website http://www.musicbox6.com.
