Firewalla has released Firewalla App 1.66, which is now available to all Early Access users. This latest update introduces new security, control, and performance features designed to make home and small business networks smarter, safer, and easier to manage.
Highlights of Firewalla App 1.66 include:
- Device Active Protect — A step toward Zero Trust networking, Device Active Protect automatically learns a device’s trusted behaviors and limits access to only what’s needed, blocking everything else without requiring manual rule creation.
- Disturb (Parental Control Tool) — A first-of-its-kind feature that discourages internet overuse by simulating poor connectivity on selected apps, encouraging healthier digital habits without total shutdowns.
- Multi-Engine IDS/IPS with Suricata — In addition to Firewalla’s default and MSP Active Protect engines, users of Firewalla Gold Pro can now leverage Suricata, the open-source intrusion detection engine, for faster and more accurate threat identification.
- FireAI for Network Performance — The built-in AI assistant can now analyze network events and suggest troubleshooting tips in real-time, making it easier for users to understand and resolve performance issues.
- Multi-WAN Data Usage Tracking — Dual-WAN users can now monitor usage independently across multiple connections, with separate limits, alerts, and reports.
Additional enhancements include expanded IPv6 support, better VPN labeling, WAN improvements, UI refinements, and multiple bug fixes.
Firewalla App 1.66 is rolling out in Early Access for iOS and Android users, with corresponding Box version 1.981 required for certain features. Support for Firewalla Gold Pro, Gold SE, Gold, Gold Plus, Purple, and Purple SE boxes began in September.
