PoEWit Technologies has announced the release of its WAP-2O, an ultra-tough outdoor AP that the company says is built to last. The WAP-2O features a durable housing constructed with military-grade aluminum and ABS plastic to weather even the most extreme outdoor conditions. The heavy-duty AP maintains optimal performance in extreme, record-breaking summer heat, as well as below-freezing winter temps — as low as –40 degrees F/C — thanks to its onboard heating technology. It also boasts an IP67 waterproof rating.
Inside its sturdy shell, the WAP-2O is an enterprise-class, dual-band, dual-concurrent, Wi-Fi 6 AP. It supports four spatial streams (2×2 in 2.4 GHz; 2×2 in 5 GHz) to deliver reliable, secure, and ultra-high performance to many wireless devices simultaneously. It features a 2.5 Gigabit PoE port and 1.0 Gigabit Ethernet Pass-Through port to meet the demand for wireless speeds over 1.0 Gigabit, and its SFP fiber port enables connectivity up to six miles from the central hub.
The WAP-2O is equipped with three wireless radios and a large, multi-core CPU. When coupled with PoEWit’s Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS), the WAP-2O can disable non-critical radios during a utility power outage in order to preserve backup battery.
The WAP-2O can be configured via the free PoEWit app, available for iOS and Android. Its app-based management system enables simple deployment in any environment — from home exteriors to outdoor stadiums.
