Eleven Engineering, provider of semiconductor products for wireless audio for home theater, multiroom, portable, professional, 12-volt (car, truck, motorcycle, power sports, marine) and gaming applications, has launched its new Talisa (MSRP: $79.99 USD) and Akiko (MSRP: $79.99 USD) audio transmitters, now available at the SKAA.com store.
“Talisa and Akiko are designed primarily for use with TVs or laptops with either Talisa’s digital audio S/PDIF optical (Toslink) or coax input, or Akiko’s 3.5mm analog audio input, and can broadcast to any SKAA equipped speaker,” said Rex Whitehead, Eleven Engineering director of sales, North America. “And, you can also teach your Talisa and Akiko how to listen to your TV remote control…your remote will then control volume and mute of all SKAA speakers you’ve got bonded to your transmitter.”
SKAA is a new wireless Hi-Fi audio standard developed by Eleven Engineering. SKAA transmitters work with iOS and Android mobile devices, Mac and Windows computers, televisions, and just about any product with a line output or a headphone jack. SKAA is also available as a built-in technology not requiring an external transmitter in purpose-designed partner products, which are featured at SKAA.com. In environments laden with heavy Wi-Fi and Bluetooth traffic, SKAA navigates through these hostile environments with high reliability. SKAA also allows for uninterrupted audio signals that are delivered with the highest sound quality to all speakers without the latency that is inherent in other wireless solutions.
“There’s no pairing required for Akiko and Talisa,” Whitehead added. “Akiko works with virtually all stereo analog audio source devices, both line-level-out and headphone-out sources. Talisa works with all optical and coax S/PDIF audio source devices that output uncompressed stereo PCM audio at either 44.1kHz or 48kHz. With SKAA, the receivers (speakers/headphones) are in charge of selecting which transmitter to listen to.”
Talisa and Akiko both don’t require Wi-Fi, and both have very low latency. Both also have an indoor range of 35 meters (more than 100 feet), while the outdoor range can be exceeded. Talisa and Akiko can send audio to up to four SKAA speakers, receivers, and/or headphones at the same time (compare that with standard Bluetooth which can only send audio to one, solitary device) with audio quality at 480Kbps (compare to iTunes Store standard 256Kbps). They both also have no internal battery of their own, as they receive their required power from the connected device. You can use up to five SKAA transmitters in the home at the same time; that’s up to 20 speakers at once. Both Talisa and Akiko ship free with SKAA OS 2.4 and work with all receivers running SKAA OS 2.1 or newer.
“Also, our new, revamped SKAA.com has expanded the site’s form and functionality,” said John Sobota, Eleven Engineering CEO and director. “The site conveys exactly what SKAA is and why it is vastly superior to traditional wireless audio technologies. It also provides links to the sites of our licensed brands and products, and introduces SKAAstore.com where consumers can purchase SKAA accessories encompassing the full line of transmitters, including Talisa and Akiko. The new SKAA.com has all of this, and more.”
Speakers incorporating SKAA Nadja technology are designed to offer best of both worlds—the ubiquity of Bluetooth and the flexibility and performance of SKAA. SKAA.com also offers the opportunity to download the optional SKAA cmd app. SKAA cmd is available for iOS, Android, Mac, Windows, and enables users to individually control bonded SKAA-equipped speakers, receivers, and amplified receivers. Users can custom-name each receiver, control their volume and mute, define how left and right audio is routed to them, and more.
“SKAA is ridiculously easy to use,” Sobota continued. “All compatible products are ready to play right out of the box with no pairing required. SKAA is also highly flexible as it is compatible with any brand, any product, anytime, anywhere, with rock solid reliability, great range, and CD-quality sound. SKAA.com is the source for all things SKAA.”
