Hunter Douglas Adds LightLock System to Darken Duette Honeycomb Shades

Light is deflected and windows covered edge-to-edge for darkness on command or on a schedule.

Hunter Douglas has enhanced room darkening effects in Duette Honeycomb Shades with the LightLock system, featuring a new bottom sill channel that cloaks bedrooms, living rooms, home theaters, and more in darkness on a schedule or on command with PowerView Automation.

As more homeowners are adding entertainment spaces, upgrading their home offices, and acclimating to new work schedules and routines, room darkening can enhance the benefits of automated window treatments. With LightLock, a room can be transformed at the touch of a button or with a voice command, or homeowners can let their smart home system do the work by adding shades to their existing scenes and schedules.

Shades can darken a bedroom for an earlier bedtime and can rise to let in the sunlight for a gentle awakening in the morning — or they can stay down later for more sleep on the weekends. The living room can become an escape, darkening for binge-watching TV shows and movies during the day, or setting the mood by making screens pop during streamed at-home movie premieres. As an added benefit, Duette Architella Shades provide energy efficiency: The cell-within-a-cell construction traps air in distinct pockets, to insulate and keep rooms cool or warm. They can be set on a schedule to raise and lower in tune with other smart experiences such as thermostats and lights.

According to Hunter Douglas, the darkness provided by LightLock is possible through the U-shaped side channels with a patent-pending design featuring rows of specially shaped micro-ridges optimized to absorb and deflect nearly all incoming light. The new bottom sill channel overlaps the front and back of a shade bottom rail, using magnets to create a secure closure of the shade bottom rail.

Homeowners have a choice of wireless or wired options for shade power with PowerView Automation, including the recently released Rechargeable Battery Wand. PowerView is compatible with most smart home systems, including Amazon Alexa, the Google Assistant, and Siri as well as Control4, Crestron, Elan, IFTTT, Logitech Harmony Home, Universal Remote Control, RTI, and Savant.
