Lutron Adding Fan Speed Control To Caséta Line

Smart addition, and fan Pico remote, coming in March.

Lutron Electronics is enhancing its five-year-old Caséta by Lutron smart lighting control system with a fan speed control that provides wireless remote access to ceiling fans.

The new control, compatible with a single 1.5A ceiling fan, offers four fan speeds and can set a favorite speed setting. Available in white, ivory, light almond and black, it requires a neutral wire for installation and takes about 15 minutes to set up, Caséta said, as a canopy module is unnecessary. Users can integrate the speed control into Caséta “scenes” and schedules using the Lutron smart bridge and free mobile app, and voice control is available via Amazon Alexa and the Google Assistant.

For a more traditional interface, Lutron is also introducing a battery-powered fan Pico remote with a 30-foot range, typical 10-year battery life and multiple mounting options.

“The new ceiling fan control, paired alongside Caséta dimmers, switches and Pico remotes, provides a clean, coordinated look throughout the home,” noted Matt Swatsky, Lutron’s residential mid-market business VP, who is anticipating strong demand from the builder channel.

The Caséta by Lutron fan speed control and fan Pico will be available in March at select home improvement centers, online retailers, electrical distributors and through independent electrical professionals. The fan control is priced to retail for $80, and the fan Pico will hit a $42 price point, Lutron said.
