At the heart of the product is a 500GB hard drive, storing around 1,000 CDs in lossless quality for graphical and touch-screen access via the Sooloos interface.

According to Meridian, the 200 can be operated by any of the network-based control systems available, including the iPad or iPhone App, a computer running the Control PC or Control Mac application, or a Meridian Sooloos controller such as the Control 15 or Control 10.

The 200 has been designed to play streamed audio services, including Rhapsody (where available), to import an existing digital music library, and features fanless operation.

An integrated single-zone audio renderer featuring a full suite of Meridian’s Resolution Enhancement DSP technologies also can deliver “pristine quality” via analog, S/PDIF digital, and SpeakerLink outputs, the manufacturer says.

Meridian Sooloos Media Core 200 Digital Media System is available for a suggested retail price of $4,000.
