New Architectural In-Wall Loudspeakers from Meridian

Feature Meridian’s Class-M DSP engine and a mounting depth of 100mm.

Meridian has added two new in-wall loudspeakers to its architectural loudspeaker line-up. The new DSP640.2 and DSP520.2 in-wall loudspeakers are the first to be powered by the new Meridian Class-M DSP engine. According to the company, the double precision Aux filter improves resolution on low frequencies, and the built-in Dynamic bass protection technology maximizes bass extension.

Both models are also the first to integrate Meridian’s Hi-Res amplifiers. Each drive unit is driven by a pair of high bandwidth, ultra-HD amps. The amplifier’s high mass toroidal transformer is electrically screened, potted, and optimized for the low mechanical noise, while post filter feedback delivers lower output noise and improved total harmonic distortion (THD).

The new DSP640.2 in-wall loudspeaker features eight power amplifiers delivering 100w per drive unit and L + R mode for high-power soundbar applications. It’s capable of delivering over 105 dB over 4m, providing full-range sound with bass extension down to 40 Hz, together with Meridian’s on-board Enhanced Bass Alignment that aligns high, mid, and upper bass frequencies with the low bass. Meridian’s proprietary Centre Elevation technology raises the perceived image location from an under-screen loudspeaker so that it appears to come from the center of the screen.

Meanwhile, the DSP520.2 in-wall loudspeaker boasts an all-new quad-amp DSP design with four amplifiers delivering 100w per drive unit. The DSP520.2 features 1 x 140mm long throw bass driver and 1 x 85mm wide-range drivers for full-frequency response, maximum dispersion, and wide listening area. It also comes equipped with the latest on-board Meridian technologies including Centre Elevation.

With a mounting depth of 100mm, both the DSP640.2 and DSP520.2 loudspeakers have a slim profile and frame system that allows for installation and positioning on almost any type of wall.
