Planar’s Piano Black 1080p Projectors

Planar Systems is now shipping two new 1080p projectors that have been designed exclusively for the specialty home theater market.

The Planar PD8150

According to Planars vice president and general manager, Scott Hix, this new line fulfills the channels growing demand for top-quality, high-definition video displays for the next-generation of home theater enthusiasts. “These 1080p projectors hit the sweet spot for performance and value in the specialty home theater marketplace,” Hix said. “Considering Planars unique ambient-light-rejection Xscreen and full line of HD 1080p LCD flat panels, our projectors – with a suite of 720p solutions and now two 1080p solutions at various price and performance levels – round out one of the most formidable lineups of premium-quality video products available in the custom channel.

The Planar PD8150 is a 1080p DLP with Dynamic Black projector with a high-gloss piano-black finish, new industrial design, horizontal and vertical lens shift, integration connectivity, Planar customized Gennum video processing, a dark room-optimized remote designed with a low-light theaters in mind, and a centered lens for an improved image. It provides 1,000-max lumens of brightness and a 15,000:1 contrast ratio. Rounding out the offering are integration-caliber performance and connectivity, including HDMI 1.3. Built from the same platform as the PD8150, the Planar PD8130 offers the same impressive proprietary design and features a DLP-based engine with VXP video, vertical lens shift, 10:000:1 contrast at 1,000 Max lumens and advanced connectivity, including multiple HDMI and Component inputs.

The PD8150 has an MSRP of $8,999.

The PD8130 has an MSRP of $6,999.
