PSB Speakers has expanded its Imagine Series with the new Imagine mini loudspeaker.

The new compact Imagine mini loudspeakers.

The mini is the newest and smallest member of the Imagine Series, with unique added features including a neodymium Turbo-Magnet and a very low crossover frequency.

Advanced technology from PSB’s critically–acclaimed Synchrony Series has trickled down to mini’s under $1k per pair price point offering, according to the company.

The mini is available in a choice of Black Ash, Dark Cherry or Walnut furniture-grade wood veneers. Also available at a premium is High Gloss Black or High Gloss White. In wood veneers (walnut, dark cherry or black ash), the mini is $770 per pair MSRP and in high gloss (white or black) $830 per pair.

The mini measures 5.75-inches wide by 9.25-inches high and 8.3-inches deep, and weighs 6.5 lbs. Its acoustic design includes a 4.5-inch woofer with a clay/ceramic compounded polypropylene cone and rubber surround, a 1-inch titanium dome tweeter with Ferrofluid, and a rear port bass reflex. Unique to the Mini, in addition to the main ceramic magnet structure on the woofer, the Turbo-Magnet is another powerful neodymium magnet resting on top of the pole piece. The Turbo-Magnet, as PSB calls it, increases the force factor of the compound magnet and energizes the magnetic gap around the voice coil, audibly improving the woofer’s low frequency performance, which results in a more controlled and extended bass response.

The Mini crosses the tweeter at 2.2 kHz, allowing the drivers to be placed closer together than usual, minimizing interference between them. Keeping the crossover frequency very low relative to the woofer size means listeners hear the same sound no matter where in the listening area they may be sitting.
