SnapAV Launches New Episode IP-Enabled Amplifier

SnapAV has launched its new Episode IP-enabled 70V amplifier, which allows dealers to control and configure audio settings remotely via OvrC.

SnapAV has launched its new Episode IP-enabled 70V amplifier, which allows dealers to control and configure audio settings remotely via OvrC.

With remote management through the OvrC platform, users are able to view device details, provide basic configuration, and update firmware. For greater functionality, users can use OvrC to access the local user interface, where they can modulate volume, select inputs, set clipping levels, power-cycle the unit, and more.

“We set out to create a ‘smart’ 70V amp that was completely dealer-centric,” said Matthew Kamp, product director for Episode. “We started with a world-class audio amplifier design, added great features, and then topped it off with our OvrC platform, which offers the convenience to configure from anywhere.”

The amp also includes IR and RS-232 support for Control 4, Crestron, RTI, and URC control systems, providing access to volume control, source selection, and summing.

In the past year, Episode has improved its quality control to enhance the durability of its products. This amp was developed in a new manufacturing facility, where it was put through extensive engineer and design testing, including time in an all-new Thermotron.

“Our test equipment is designed to emulate years of install in some of the harshest environments possible,” Kamp said. “And thanks to a number of beta-users, we’ve had these amps installed in AV systems around the country since 2015—allowing us to capture feedback and incorporate it into the final product. As a result, the functionality of these amplifiers is iron-clad.”

This two-channel amplifier is available now in 150-, 300-, and 500-watt options.
