Sony Electronics Sets Pricing HDR TVs

The X900F and X850F Series 4K HDR Ultra HD TVs Were Introduced at CES

Sony Electronics has announced pricing for the 55-, 65-, and 75-inch class X900F 4K HDR Ultra HD TVs shown at CES 2018 in Las Vegas. These models will be available for sale at major Sony authorized retailers including Best Buy and Amazon. Additionally, Sony announced the introduction and pricing of the new X850F series 4K HDR Ultra HD TVs in 65- and 75-inch class sizes—also to be available for sale at major Sony authorized retailers including Amazon.

The X900F series features the 4K HDR Processor X1 Extreme, producing powerful real-time image processing for ultra-detailed pictures. The X1 Extreme incorporates three technologies that improve picture quality, no matter what the content source: Object-based HDR remaster, Super Bit Mapping 4K HDR, and Dual database processing.

According to the company, X-tended Dynamic Range PRO 6x technology ensures dark scenes are darker and bright scenes brighter with up to six times the contrast of conventional LED TVs.

Sony’s newest technology, X-Motion Clarity, helps keep fast action smooth and clear with images precisely controlled to minimize blur with no loss in brightness, perfect for sports and high speed scenes, particularly in larger screen sizes. A TRILUMINOS Display maps colors from a wider palette, faithfully reproducing every shade and hue to provide real-world colors.

The X900F 4K HDR Ultra HD TVs will support Dolby Vision via a firmware update to be delivered later this year. And to bring sound to the next level, the X900F series is designed perfectly to match Sony’s new Dolby Atmos sound bar, the HT-X9000F.

The X850F series features the 4K HDR Processor X1, which together with 4K X-Reality PRO up-scales Standard Definition (SD) and High Definition (HD) content to near 4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) quality, while HDR content is displayed in stunning clarity, color, and contrast.

Object-based HDR Remaster technology can detect, analyze and optimize each object in the picture individually to adjust the overall contrast for a more natural and realistic picture on screen. A TRILUMINOS Display provides colors as vivid as nature’s own with rich, authentic images that evoke the emotion in every scene. And, 4K HDR Super Bit Mapping reveals thousands of shades and gradations of light, for sunsets as bright and clear as real life.

Sony’s Android TV enables viewers to enjoy a range of apps from Google Play, including YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Video, Hulu, and Pandora. To integrate into the smart home, both the X900F 4K HDR Ultra HD TVs and X850F Series have Google Assistant built-in. The Google Assistant on Sony’s Android TV works just by pushing the microphone button on the remote and using your voice to ask a question or say a command. This allows users to playback or search for content, play music or stream photos, or control some smart home devices through their Sony TV. Furthermore, Sony’s Android TV works with popular smart speakers such as Sony’s own LF-S50G, Google Home or Amazon Alexa.
