Transformative Engineering has shipped its HXU-1 Xtreme HDMI extender that provides point-to-point ranges up to 600 feet and offers AV switching solutions without the costly structural limitations of a fixed matrix switch.

The HXU-1 is designed to simultaneously extend and distribute HDMI, USB, analog audio, RS232, and IR signals over CAT5e/6 and supports 1080p HD video and up to 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) resolution.

The HXU-1 is designed to simultaneously extend and distribute HDMI, USB, analog audio, RS232, and IR signals over CAT5e/6 and supports 1080p HD video and up to 1920 x 1200 (WUXGA) resolution.

This use of a single “category cable” is much more cost-effective than using multiple pre-made cables, which are expensive, distance-limited, and difficult to install. The HXU-1 transmitter and receiver units can be connected together for a long-range point-to-point connection via CAT5e/6 cable. They can also function as point-to-multi-point or multi-point-to-multi-point solutions by connecting to a gigabit fast network switch with IGMP snooping and 8K Jumbo Frame support.

“Our new HXU-1 provides a wealth of audio video solutions to systems integrators,” said Jon Ralston, TE’s director of sales. “It can be used for a long-range HDMI, USB, and control extender or for a source/display switching system that you might see at your favorite sports bar. Every time we show this system to integrators in the field, they find new applications.”

The Transformative Engineering HXU-1 Xtreme Extender is now available from TE reps and distributors, or directly from the company. The HXU-1 TX transmitters and HXU-1 RX receivers are sold individually (to create an a la carte HDMI Matrix) and have a suggested retail price of $499 each.
