The all new system’s five speakers and subwoofer also features a curved design with a black high-gloss finish that complements the look of flat screen TVs.

As Yamaha’s first entry into the Blu-ray Home Theater category, this 500W system delivers the visual effects of 3D movies as well as content from network AV sources such as BD-Live, Netflix and YouTube. The main unit (model BRX-610) also provides a front panel USB port for the playback of content stored on iPhones, iPods, iPads, flash drives and other portable devices.

The BDX-610 supports all major video playback technologies and has a 1080p-compatible HDMI output with Audio Return Channel (ARC). It also has full HD Audio decoding (Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio) and speakers that are specially tuned and balanced to deliver full HD Audio.

The BDX-610 is DLNA 1.5 certified, enabling it to seamlessly play back music stored on a PC or other compatible device within the home network.

When connected to a CEC-compatible TV via HDMI, the system will turn on and off simultaneously with the TV, and the TV’s remote can be used to control the system’s volume.

“Our new BDX-610 system represents an entirely new category for Yamaha, and we are confident that it will set a new standard for consumer expectations of integrated blu-ray HTiB systems. It provides exceptional convenience with high-end performance and compatibility with the latest entertainment sources,” said Tom Sumner, president, Yamaha Electronics Corporation. “What’s more, we added stylish curves to the entire system, to give it a striking design that will look great in any family room setting.”

The BDX-610 system has an MSRP of $699.95, and is shipping now. The central component BRX-610 (MSRP $549.95) also will be sold separately at select retailers to accommodate alternative speaker packages and additional components.
