By RS Staff May 10,2012

Early bird registration has been extended through May 25 for the Women in Consumer Electronics (CE) Career Enhancement Forum, scheduled for June 26 in conjunction with CE Week in New York City.

With the theme "Power Your Career in Consumer Electronics," the inaugural Career Enhancement Forum will be held at the Rubin Museum of Art, 150 West 17th Street, New York City. The forum is sponsored by Women in CE, an industry organization that promotes the advancement of women in the consumer electronics industry.

The featured keynote speaker will be Cathie Black, former chairwoman and president of Hearst Magazines, and New York Times best-selling author of "Basic Black: The Essential Guide to Getting Ahead at Work (And in Life)." Black will also moderate the roundtable discussion "Insights on Success — An Exploration On Rising to the Top," which features a panel of high-level executives from across the consumer electronics industry including Sandra Benedetto, director of field engineering, THX Ltd.; Karen Chupka, senior VP of events and conferences at the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA); Andrea Smith, news/technology producer at ABC News Radio; and Kristine Welker, VP, chief revenue officer, Hearst Digital Media.

Additionally, the forum will feature a dynamic workshop "Intrigue Anyone in Anything...in 60 Seconds!" led by "ideapreneur" Sam Horn. Horn is the author of "POP!" which has been featured on MSNBC, BusinessWeek.com, FastCompany.com, and in the New York Times, will share her innovative techniques for creating a Unique Strategic Positioning (USP) that makes a person one of a kind instead of one of many.

Organizers recently added another informational session titled "Your Network... How to Use It Effectively!" Maureen Jenson, editor-in-chief of the Consumer Technology Publishing Group, will moderate the panel discussion in which influential women from around the industry will share their tips and techniques for getting involved and getting ahead. The panel includes Amy Millman, president of Springboard Enterprises; Jamie Riley, senior director of marketing and public relations at the Custom Electronic Design and Installation Association (CEDIA); Ellen Savage, director of member programs at the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA); and Melissa Taggart, senior V.P. of education and certification at InfoComm International.

Prior to the closing keynote speaker, Magnolia and Best Buy's Women's Leadership Forum (known as WOLF @ Best Buy) will present "Why Best Buy is Investing in Their Female Employees," which will be moderated by Tricia Nystrom, senior merchant, Audio, Best Buy and Magnolia. Joining the discussion will be Angela Chambliss, director, WOLF Corporate Capabilities at Best Buy, and special guest, Steve Delp, COO of Magnolia.

The forum is open to women working in all segments of the CE industry including manufacturers, major retailers, specialty retailers, suppliers, integrators, distributors, manufacturers' representatives, buying groups, and consultants.

"The inaugural Career Enhancement Forum is a must-attend event packed with information sessions, workshops, and discussions led by high-level executives from across the CE industry," said Carol Campbell, founder of Women in CE. "By attending, women throughout the supply chain will receive useful tools and strategies to gain an edge and move ahead in CE-related fields. We encourage everyone to take advantage of the extension of the Early Bird registration today, as the Career Enhancement Forum is filling up quickly."

Early Bird registration for the Women in CE Career Enhancement Forum is now open and ends on May 25. Those who register during the Early Bird period save $50 off the full conference fee. In addition to forum attendance, the Early Bird registration fee of $199 includes a new one-year or one-year extended membership to Women in CE valued at $125.
