When a premier nationwide fitness brand prepared to launch its new 35,000-square-foot flagship commercial gym in West Palm Beach, Florida, the audio specification could easily have followed the same pre-packaged formula deployed across more than 100 existing nationwide locations. Rather than accepting the incumbent legacy design, the integrator recommended a complete transition to SoundTube Entertainment loudspeakers. - Luxury Spa, Hydrotherapy, and Treatment Rooms: Requires subtle, ultra-smooth background ambient music with strict acoustic isolation to prevent sound bleed from adjacent weightlifting areas.
- Locker Rooms, Restrooms, and Executive Walkways: Features varying ceiling heights, moisture considerations, and custom wood paneling that required discreet, architecturally blending enclosures.
To master these environments, Seamless Technologies collaborated closely with SoundTube Design Services. Utilizing advanced 3D acoustic modeling and coverage heatmaps, the engineering team mapped speaker placement, dispersion angles, and SPL distribution prior to pull-wire stage. This upfront engineering ensured zero coverage gaps and eliminated over-specifying hardware in smaller rooms.
The Solution: Precision Hardware Deployment
The final commissioned design features 184 SoundTube loudspeakers and subwoofers strategically matched to the ceiling dynamics and sonic requirements of each zone:
- CM42-EZS-II 4.5-inch In-Ceiling Speakers: Deployed in low-ceiling treatment rooms, offices, and restricted plenum spaces, providing smooth voice reproduction and subtle background audio with minimal visual footprint.
- CM62-EZS-II 6.5-inch Premium In-Ceiling Speakers: Installed throughout main circulation paths, functional training areas, and locker rooms. SoundTube’s BroadBeam waveguide technology ensured wide dispersion, allowing full coverage with fewer physical fixtures.
- CM1001D-T-WH 10-inch Blind-Mount Subwoofers: Integrated into primary workout zones and group studios to deliver deep, punchy low-end reinforcement without requiring bulky floor-mounted enclosures.
Agile Project Delivery under Tight Deadlines
Commercial construction projects operating on rigid grand-opening schedules leave zero allowance for supply chain friction. During rough-in, global supply chain back-orders threatened to delay a selection of short-can loudspeakers originally specified for restricted ceiling voids.
Seamless Technologies demonstrated agile problem-solving by coordinating directly with SoundTube’s engineering team. The joint team identified pin-compatible alternate SoundTube models that satisfied physical plenum constraints and acoustic targets and preserving the client’s grand opening schedule without requiring ceiling modification or budget overruns.
Sophisticated Processing & Intuitive Control
Behind the high-performance loudspeakers sits a robust network audio architecture. Amplification is powered by QSC CX-Q Series network amplifiers, providing efficient energy management and immense dynamic headroom across all 17 zones. Audio processing is split between QSC Q-SYS CORE processing for primary floor distribution and a Symetrix Radius NX 12×8 DSP for precision zone equalization and acoustic isolation tuning.
To ensure gym staff could manage the system effortlessly without technical training, Seamless deployed wall-mounted Symetrix ARC-3 and RC-3 volume/source controllers. Staff can instantly adjust local studio volumes or change audio sources via intuitive, tamper-resistant interfaces.
Setting a New Benchmark for Nationwide Expansion
The final walkthrough confirmed the wisdom of challenging the status quo. Executive leadership from the fitness brand noted an immediate enhancement in bass punch, vocal clarity, and coverage consistency compared to their 100+ legacy facilities.
Following the overwhelming success of the West Palm Beach flagship, the client announced plans to revise its national master specification, standardizing SoundTube loudspeakers and Seamless Technologies’ system design for all upcoming facility builds and major system retrofits.
