Definitive Technology has promoted technical director Matt Lyons to the position of vice president of engineering.
In this newly created position, Lyons is responsible for overseeing all of Definitive’s engineering personal and outside contractors. Lyons will report to Paul DiComo, senior vice president of marketing and product development.
Lyons comes to Definitive Technology with an extensive background in Consumer Electronics engineering and product development. Lyons started his career as an audio engineer at Polk Audio, spent several years with electronics manufacturer Adcom and subsequently went on to form Lyonsound, an AV product development consulting firm whose clients included several prominent audio brands.
Lyons holds a masters degree in Audio Sciences from Johns Hopkins University’s Peabody School of Music. Matt has continued his involvement with his alma mater as an adjunct professor, teaching graduate level courses in audio and recording arts.
Since joining Definitive in 2007, Lyons has been instrumental in developing high performance products. The ultra-thin Mythos XTR series, BP 8000 bipolar series loudspeakers and latest generation SuperCube digital subwoofers were all developed under Lyons’ technical direction.
“Matt brings a wealth of industry experience and a solid track record of technical excellence to Definitive Technology. He has been instrumental in helping Definitive Technology and a number of CE industry companies to grow their businesses,” said Paul DiComo, SVP. “Matt Lyons is a truly exceptional engineer, administrator and educator whose broad experience in acoustic and electronic design will help bring Definitive’s products to new heights of performance excellence.”
