Fusion Research has created a new Apple application that offers full two-way control of Fusion Movie Servers. The Fusion App is free and available now for download in the iTunes store. It will work on all current generation Fusion Movie Servers after a small update is done on the unit.

According to Fusion’s president, Joe Storm, “…we’ve worked hard to make this app a great addition to the movie watching experience. Not only can you browse your complete collection directly on the iPad or iPhone, but you can perform full movie sorting/filtering and control functions directly on these devices.”
Storm said that the app is optimized to work even with very large collections and users can choose a movie even while watching something else. The app also supports multiple movie zones, enabling users to move from controlling one zone to another. “Parents can load a movie and start it for their children without being in the room; they can also monitor what the children are watching by viewing the ‘now playing’ feature in the app,” Storm said.
The company released the app early to a few key dealers before announcing the general release. Matt Allen, from Oak Point Technologies of Peoria, IL, was one of the testers, using it on his three-zone system.
“After typing in my IP address, the communication was instant, which was great. The control responds really well with the Encore and mini players with no delay from button press to response on the screen,” Allen stated. “Overall, really slick…graphics are clear, responds well, and it will be a nice selling point for us.”
The Apple App works on new Fusion Movie Servers as well as current generation units still in warranty. Units purchased before this announcement will require a small software update to the server before it can be used. Please contact Fusion Research for any details related to this new App.
