I loved the Resi Awards. They were my creation, and I was proud of their cutesy name and the unique focus on industrial design that our CEDIA EXPO product awards competition brought to the custom integration channel.
But to be perfectly honest, those same narrow parameters for entries started to pigeonhole us too much. There were just too many important black boxes doing yeoman’s work behind the curtain, so to speak, that didn’t necessarily meet the criteria of “exquisite industrial design” that deserved recognition.
That’s why, this year, Residential Systems (along with sister publication TWICE) has launched its inaugural Best of Show awards for CEDIA EXPO exhibitors. Hopefully, you’ve been seeing the promotions for it, and many manufacturers have already entered.
I’m writing this brief post just in case you enjoy reading my bylined article (until now, perhaps) and have become numb to marketing emails about CEDIA EXPO promotional opportunities. I expect to be just as proud of our new awards program and look forward to seeing what our independent team of judges has to say about our entries when they judge them on the EXPO show floor in Denver.
The Resi Awards are gone, but not forgotten. Long live the Best of Show.
