Chord Electronics Adds 4.4mm connection and USB-C Charging to the Mojo 2

The improvement opens up the Mojo 2 to a greater range of high-performance headphones.

Chord Electronics has upgraded its Mojo 2 DAC/headphone amplifier with the inclusion of a 4.4 mm headphone output and USB-C charging. The crucial upgrade for the British-built Mojo 2 sees one of the two original 3.5mm outputs replaced by the 4.4mm socket. The improvement opens up the Mojo 2 to a far greater range of high-performance headphones, while retaining a convenient 3.5mm connection. In addition, both the 3.5mm and 4.4mm outputs have independent volume memory, giving the ability to precisely set output levels for different headphones.

Responding to customer feedback, Chord Electronics has further upgraded the Mojo 2 with the addition of switchable USB-C charging, simplifying the Mojo 2’s charging operation; the device’s existing USB-C input is now enabled for both data and charging.

What’s more, the two key upgrades have been implemented without any increase in price: the Mojo 2 continues to sell for $521.75/£395.

About the Mojo 2

The British-designed, engineered, and built Mojo 2 is a highly advanced portable digital-to-analogue converter (DAC) and headphone amplifier based on proprietary technology. Engineered around a powerful, custom-coded FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) processor, the Mojo 2 uses Chord Electronics’ proprietary digital audio code. This unique architecture delivers class-leading sound quality, whether used on the go with headphones, or as a desktop or hi-fi system component.

Key to the Mojo 2 is the world’s first lossless digital signal processor. The “UHD DSP” is fully transparent, enabling comprehensive tone adjustments across the frequency range without any degradation in sound quality.

A further key feature over the original Mojo is the introduction of a button-operated menu system bringing a mute function, a four-setting crossfeed adjustment, a button-lock feature for traveling, plus control over the lossless tone controls and USB-C charging.

The Mojo 2 also boasts greatly improved battery management through a new FPGA-based charging system, which ensures faster, cooler, and more efficient charging, with a 75% reduction in power loss and a minimum battery life of over eight hours. It also features an improved Intelligent Desktop Mode, allowing for permanent connection to a power source without compromising sound quality or battery longevity.
