Forte Distribution has announced that the new Shanling SCD3.3 SACD player will be available this month in the U.S. The SCD3.3 (SRP: $3990) is Shandling’s response to music lovers seeking a reference-grade SACD player. The player, which features both a 24-bit R2R DAC and 12AT7 tube amplification, delivers both the natural sound of analog audio and extensive digital connectivity.
The SCD3.3 features a system that was developed in-house, with the HD850 drive, to present Super Audio CD playback with the utmost precision, detail, and reliability. The FPGA-assisted I2S output’s 10 modes bring native DSD output to any I2S-capable DAC on the market.
The player’s second-generation Shanling-developed DAC produces smooth, natural sonic output with precision and clarity.
The tube section of the SCD3.3 serves as the amplification stage of the RCA and XLR outputs. Its 12AT7 tubes, originally designed by audio engineer Dr. Cai Hongren, are tested and matched for every unit.
A multifunctional interface makes it easy to switch among any number of sources, including Flash, HDD, and SDD, with full support of high-resolution audio up to PCM 768 kHz and DSD512.
Additional features of the SCD3.3 include a 9.5mm thick solid aluminum CDC chassis, a top-loading drive with a precisely weighted CD puck, an intuitive 5-inch touchscreen, and a transparent opening that displays the warm light of the tube array.
In addition to the touchscreen display, the SCD3.3 is operable with Shanling’s Eddict Player app, available for both Android and iOS. Like the touchscreen, the Eddict Player is a smart, intuitive control with easy-to-master functionality.
