Legrand has introduced the DA1104, a new 802.11ac wireless access point designed for the increasing bandwidth demands found in today’s connected homes. Built for in-ceiling installation, the dual-band DA1104 delivers the fastest WiFi speeds and uses Power over Ethernet (PoE) technology to provide data and power over a single Ethernet cable to simplify installation.
“We continue to focus on delivering home solutions for entertainment, comfort, safety and convenience, as well as the supporting infrastructure, to address the ever-changing needs of the homeowner’s spaces,” said Fritz Werder, VP and general manager for the company’s On-Q and Nuvo lines. “As such, this newest wireless access point offers the highest network performance to create the smoothest user experience possible.”
According to Werder, the DA1104 represents the latest in wireless transmission standards and features. Its dual band capabilities allow for transmitting over both the 2.4GHz and the 5GHz frequency bands, resulting in reduced interference and enabling single-stream speeds of up to 867Mbps with up to 1.2Gbps of total streaming capacity.
Incorporating MU-MIMO (multiple user – multiple input/multiple output), the DA1104 can support multiple streams to multiple clients concurrently, matching the typical use scenarios in today’s connected, bandwidth-intensive homes. The DA1104 also employs beamforming, a directional signal transmission technique that aims the wi-fi signal at its active clients, improving both the range and performance levels when compared with the omnidirectional antennas typically found in wireless access points.
The DA1104 mounts in a traditional three-gang box and ships with a low-profile, paintable ceiling cover plate so as to blend in smoothly with any décor.
