Marantz Refines Stereo Duo With the PM6006 and CD6006 Marantz has revealed its new PM6006 Integrated Amplifier and CD6006 CD Player, to be available in June. By RS Staff Published: May 27, 2016 ⋅ Updated: April 15, 2019 Marantz has revealed its new PM6006 Integrated Amplifier and CD6006 CD Player, to be available in June. The PM6006 Integrated Amplifier with digital inputs replaces the PM6005. Marantz has retained the pre-amp and power-amp sections that feature discrete components—with no single IC in sight of the signal path. The PM6006 is upgraded for peak current at the amplifier stage. The Current Feedback amplifier technology provides wide-bandwidth and high-speed sound reproduction. In combination with the Toroidal Transformer, the PM6006 holds an energy reserve to drive even demanding speakers with absolute ease. And finally, the unique HDAM modules delivers powerful, dynamic, and detailed original Marantz sound. From the back panel, PM6006 can be connected directly to a vast range of digital sources and use its superior 24bit/192kHz high current CS4398 DAC to create a high level of audio enjoyment with new media. Furthermore, the unit now includes two optical inpus and one coaxial digital input (an additional optical input over the predecessor, PM6005). The digital section is fully shielded by an extra metal housing to ensure that the digital stage has no effect on the analog signal. And building upon the best from its predecessor, all of the original features—such as five-line audio input including dedicated phono, two-pairs of gold-plated speaker connections with the convenience of bi-wiring, and a remote handset are still included. The CD6006 has an oversized power supply feeds the digital and analog circuitry of the player, where the CS4398 DAC converts digital signals to analog. The signal is ‘pushed’ to the gold-plated cinch outputs by Marantz’s small signal amplifier, the HDAM-SA2. The CD6006 plays back MP3, WMA, WAV, and AAC files from a connected USB storage device and directly plays music from iOS devices through its D/A converters. To further eliminate vibration, more rigid feet were added to this model. And as an added convenience for those owning the stereo duo, it shares the same remote control as the PM6006.
