Nortek Adds Z-Wave Lighting to GoControl

Nortek Security & Control has added six new Z-Wave 500 series lighting devices to its portfolio of GoControl smart home control devices.

Nortek Security & Control has added six new Z-Wave 500 series lighting devices to its portfolio of GoControl smart home control devices. Dealers installing the new lighting and electrical devices will have access to new features including energy monitoring, extended range, and standardized over-the-air upgradability.

The lighting devices are designed to make home lighting automation simpler, more reliable, and easier to configure with central scene command class, extended range, and local associations.

The product line includes:

•GoControl 500 Series Wall Switch (WS15Z5-1) MSRP: $59.95

•GoControl 500 Series Wall Dimmer (WD500Z5-1) MSRP: $59.95

•GoControl 500 Series 3-Way Switch/Dimmer (WT00Z5-1) MSRP: $59.95

•GoControl 500 Series EM Lamp Module (PD300EMZ5-1) MSRP: $59.95

•GoControl 500 Series EM Appliance Module (PS15EMZ5-1) MSRP: $59.95

•GoControl 500 Series EM Wall Outlet (WO15EMZ5-1) MSRP: $59.95

With the energy monitoring command class integrated at the device level, end users with compatible Z-Wave hubs can gain insight into how much energy each of the devices connected to the GoControl plug-in modules or GoControl wall outlets are using. With this information, users can make informed decisions and adjust lighting scenes and schedules to reduce energy use and cost. Integrated LEDs provide a visual representation of how much energy is being used, enabling users to make real-time adjustments. Simply look for the letters “EM” in the part number or description fields to identify products with this feature set.

Using the central scene command class, the new GoControl 500 Series light switches and dimmers now have multi-tap implementation to allow users to trigger up to eight lighting scenes directly from the light switch. End users looking to quickly access a stored scene can do so without having to activate the scene from their smartphone or wait for the scheduled scene to occur. By double tapping, triple tapping, press and holding, or press, holding, and releasing the top or bottom of the 500 series switch, users can trigger any of their created scenes directly from any compatible switch.

Direct device-to-device association capabilities are now available in every GoControl 500 Series in-wall switch. Directly associating two or more Z-Wave devices results in enhanced performance consistency and can be triggered by a single tap of the in-wall switch. Device-to-device association can be used to allow a single GoControl in-wall switch to directly control up to five dimmers and/or five switches, and creates a reliable connection outside of the central hub for lighting automation and commands that do not require a created scene.

Increased wireless transmission range means fewer devices are required to create and maintain a strong and reliable Z-Wave mesh network. All of the new GoControl 500 Series lighting devices feature 30 percent further wireless range and act as repeaters to ensure commands meant for devices located far away from the central hub are received and executed.

The GoControl 500 Series lighting devices feature backwards compatibility with older generation Z-Wave products and support over-the-air (OTA) updates. As new features become available, the 500 Series lighting devices can be updated accordingly and will continue to work harmoniously with existing Z-Wave devices on the network.
