Roost has unveiled a smart home water leak detector market with the Roost Smart Water and Freeze Detector.
The Roost Smart Water and Freeze Detector features sensors that identify and alert home owners to four major home emergencies through their smartphone, including water damage due to leaks; frozen pipes water damage; molds and mildew damage caused by high humidity conditions; and inefficient energy use due to abnormal home indoor temperature.
“We are excited to introduce the Roost Smart Water and Freeze Detector, and expand our ability to offer consumers safer and smarter homes,” said Roel Peeters, Roost CEO and co-founder. “Our unique technology delivers consumers tangible solutions that are simple to install and at affordable costs. Roost provides essential alerts and notifications that enable consumers to take faster action when it comes to home emergencies, saving the trouble and cost of repair work or major home loss. With the new Roost Smart Water and Freeze Detector, Roost now provides the ability to manage the all too common water leak or freezing pipes situation that we’ve all experienced in our homes at some point.”
Unlike other home water leak detectors already on the market, the company says, the Roost Smart Water and Freeze Detector is a more affordable solution that does not require consumers to purchase smart hubs, is simple to install without professional installation and includes the Roost smartphone app. In addition, it is battery operated so that it can be placed in locations where there is no power outlet. The Roost Smart Water and Freeze Detector also offers more than a three year battery life and uses home Wi-Fi systems already in place.
The Roost Smart Water and Freeze Detector provides many useful features and benefits, including: Water leak sensor that notifies your smartphone when a leak starts; temperature sensor; humidity sensor; and a Wi-Fi-based Roost mobile smartphone app that utilizes the same core components as the Roost Smart Battery. The Roost Smart Water and Freeze Detector will be shipping in the fall of 2016 for around $50.
