At Booth 1128 during CEDIA EXPO, Gefen will demonstrate how its new Gefen ToolBox Extender for HDMI 3DTV can streamline installations using wall-mountable sender and receiver units that deliver a 1080p 3DTV signal over one Cat-5 cable to a mounted HDTV display, a reduction from the two cables that were previously required.

The Extender for HDMI 3DTV also sends multi-channel audio with Dolby TrueHD and DTS Master Audio as well as IR remote control and RS-232 signals, all over a single Cat-5 cable. Distances up to 330 feet (100m) can be reached with totally lossless video, making this one of the first extension solutions to support 3DTV with control over a single Cat-5 cable, the company says.

“Installers can now utilize in-wall cabling or run a single Cat-5 cable to reach long distance locations,” explained Hagai Gefen, president and CEO, Gefen Inc. “This can save money in the long-run by reducing long distance cable requirements, while the performance is impeccable.”

This solution supports all HDMI v1.3 features, offers full HDCP compliance, and allows an instant, long-range delivery of multiple signals. All audio/video devices using the expanded HDMI v1.3 format are supported, with 3DTV capability making this a high performer for next generation systems.

Offering a total solution in a box, sender and receiver units are available in flat black or glossy white finishes to better blend with most room decors. All connectors are located on the front panel so they are easily accessible, and six-foot HDMI connection cables are included with locking HDMI capability to eliminate disconnects.
