The electronic systems industry is mourning the loss of Randy Vaughan, a beloved 40-year veteran who was recently elected chairman of CEDIA. He died on December 23, surrounded by his loved ones, after an illness.

Randy Vaughan addresses attendees of the 2010 CEDIA Banquet, after being named CEDIA Chairman, this past September, in Atlanta.

Vaughan was a longtime CEDIA and NSCA member and volunteer, who will be remembered among his peers and colleagues for his many contributions to the industry as a volunteer, an instructor, and a leader.

CEDIA CEO Utz Baldwin made the announcement to the industry on Monday, saying, “On behalf of the CEDIA family, I offer our sincerest condolences to Randy’s wife, Mary, his children, his granddaughter, and his family and friends. He will be greatly missed.”

A memorial service will be held at First Lutheran Church, 1301 Colley Ave., Norfolk, Va. at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 30. The family will receive visitors immediately after the service at church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to one of the following: Bon Secours Maryview Foundation, 3636 High St., Portsmouth, Va. 23707; The Elizabeth River Project, Admirals Landing, 475 Water St., Suite 103-A, Portsmouth, Va. 23704; First Lutheran Church, 1301 Colley Ave., Norfolk, Va. 23517; or the education program at NSCA.

Additionally, to commemorate Randy’s enduring commitment to industry education, CEDIA is establishing a scholarship fund in his honor. Those interested in participating in this fund may contact CEDIA COO Don Gilpin or Utz Baldwin. A full obituary appears here.
