Crestron has announced plans to bring electrical contractors on board as partners in the residential lighting control market. The program is designed to build deepen relationships with electrical contractors.

Rob Doherty.

To lead the initiative, Crestron appointed Rob Doherty as its new eastern regional sales manager. Doherty is responsible for facilitating effective communication and collaboration between Crestron and electrical contractors to deliver the best lighting solutions for homeowners.

Doherty has 15 years experience in residential lighting controls. Prior to joining Crestron, Doherty was the eastern U.S. sales manager at LiteTouch Lighting Controls. He began his career at ETC Inc., where he designed and sold Crestron solutions.

“I have known Crestron since I joined the industry. They have always been a leader,” said Doherty. “The investment we are making in new product development for the future of lighting controls is tremendous, and I am excited to be part of developing this market, and helping electrical contractors expand their businesses.”

Doherty will work with residential regional sales managers to develop relationships with leading residential electrical contractors who have a history of installing lighting control systems or recognize the business potential of lighting controls. Doherty and his team will also develop specific initiatives for electrical contractors, including training and incentive programs.

“We are putting more resources into residential lighting controls to support our local partners and pursue new business opportunities with electrical contractors who are interested in offering Crestron lighting control solutions and diversifying their businesses,” said Crestron VP of sales for Lighting Controls, Mike Malone.
