ELAN Connects With Lutron

ELAN unveils two-way integration with the lighting firms RadioRA control system and new security drivers.

Lexington, KY–ELAN Home Systems will debut its new two-way lighting control interface for Lutron Electronics RadioRA system via the Chronos system bridge and time clock at TRIO 2007 Dealer Summit this month and ship shortly after the event. The announcement was made today by Bob Farinelli, ELANs President and Chief Technology Officer.

The new two-way serial driver will reside in ELANs SS1 and allow VIA! touch panels to control Lutrons RadioRA-controlled products and provide immediate feedback regarding any or all of the units possible 17 scenes throughout the home. Playing off the RadioRA platform, the latest interface allows homeowners full feedback on lighting loads from every ELAN panel in the home. Prior to this, ELANs SS1 has had interface capabilities with Lutrons RadioRA system via one-way control.

This new serial interface is a pre-written driver and is ultra-fast for dealers to install using ELANs VIA!Tools software. They simply select the driver in ELANs setup software, name the rooms or scenes, and its essentially ready to go.

While music and lighting control systems for the home were once considered luxuries exclusively available to the rich and famous, the new ELAN and Lutron RadioRA system interface collaboration delivers the most cost effective, easy-to-use option for lighting control, said Bob Farinelli, ELANs president and chief technology officer. Theres nothing like seeing which lights are on all over the house from a single touch station. It makes getting the lights right, simple, and enjoyable.

“Dealers have been successfully interfacing RadioRA with ELANs VIA! touch panels for years, and appreciate the support they get from Lutron and ELAN. The introduction of this new driver is groundbreaking for them in that it gives users the ability to know the status of their controlled lighting, from a touch panel, from anywhere in the home, at an affordable price point, said Jeff Zemanek, Lutrons director of residential systems providers. We have worked closely with ELAN and are pleased to join ELAN in giving their top dealers the first look at TRIO 2007.

An intelligent, multi-faceted controller, ELANs SS1 System Station is the brains behind the user-friendly control afforded by ELANs popular touch panels and keypads. RadioRA supports 17 whole-home scenes (15 rooms/scenes plus ALL ON and ALL OFF), which can be accessed via any button on a master control or via an RS-232 connection and provides a powerful, built-in astronomical timeclock with 13 additional whole-home scenes that can be activated by up to 100 programmable events.

ELANs two-way serial driver for RadioRA is targeted to be available to dealers within 45 days of TRIO, along with several other new security system two-way drivers.

At TRIO, ELAN will also debut these drivers, with display of three other two-way RS-232 controls for VIA! Integration Partner security products including the GE NetworX NX-8, the Ademco/Honeywell VISTA Series, and the DSC Power Series. Like the new Lutron driver, these are also pre-written serial drivers and can easily and effortlessly be installed by dealers with ELANs VIA!Tools software, increasing dealers productivity and profits.
