Emotiva Audio has introduced the latest addition to its Airmotiv speaker series, the E2 wall mount surround loudspeaker.
The Airmotiv E2 ($459/pair) represents Emotiva’s commitment to blend performance, flexibility, and price. The two-way wall mounted surround speaker, which features a 5-1/4-inch woven fiber woofer and a pair of 32 mm Airmotiv folded ribbon tweeters, can be configured as a direct radiating bipole speaker, or as a forward- or rear-oriented dipole speaker, to optimize its performance in a wide variety of surround sound installations.
“Most modern surround sound standards recommend using direct radiating surround speakers for the most precise localization of objects and most accurate sound stage, but in some cases, such as in small rooms, or when the surrounds are located very close to listeners, bipole speakers can make a better presentation,” said Dan Laufman, president and CEO, Emotiva Audio Corp. “The E2 offers both options, including the choice of forward or rearward oriented dipole, or inverted bipole – where both tweeters are out of phase with the mid-woofer, ensuring that the listener will find the perfect setting in any surround system.”
The Airmotiv E2 includes a 5-1/4-inch woven-fiber cone mid-woofer boasting extraordinary strength and internal damping, to deliver precise, richly detailed midrange and bass performance. A 32 mm Airmotiv tweeter provides superb high frequency response, and is a perfect match for other Airmotiv models as well as any manufacturers’ products.
Emotiva utilized a bass-reflex design, which is ideal for a small speaker, and its aerodynamically flared ports are front mounted, so users can mount the Airmotiv E2 directly against a wall. A scaled-down version of the company’s Minimum Acoustic Signature cabinet, with its convenient removable magnetically-attached grill, completes the picture.
The Airmotiv E2 ships with a heavy duty steel bracket for easy wall mounting. As is the case with all Airmotiv models, the E2 features a modern, elegant black faceted baffle.
“The E2 was developed for universal appeal, not only to home theater enthusiasts, but custom installation professionals who need maximum flexibility and reliability when designing a system of any size or budget,” Laufman added.
