Gefen has introduced its new DVI FM-1500 fiber optics extender.
The extender reaches ultra long distances up to 12 kilometers (7.45 miles) using either a single or multi-mode fiber optic cable. The use of a fiber optic cable ensures that EMI (electromagnetic interference) is eliminated.
Two tiny transceivers are connected at the local and remote locations, linked by a single strand of fiber optic cable terminated in SC connectors. Virtual EDID programming ensures a constant synching of the video source to the display. High resolution video is supported up to 1080p.
