Honeywell Expands Distribution with Burtek Deal

The new acquisition will be integrated into ADI security and low-voltage products distribution business.

Louisville, KY–Honeywell has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Burtek Systems Corporation and the Security Systems Division (SSD) from Richardson Electronics Ltd for $80 million. The transaction is subject to regulatory requirements.

Burtek is a distributor of low-voltage products for commercial and residential audio, burglar and fire alarm, CCTV, access control and data communications. With 2006 sales of more than $108 million, Burtek serves customers in Canada, the U.S., Latin America, and Europe and will expand Honeywells global presence in security and low-voltage products distribution.

Burtek will be integrated with Honeywells ADI security and low-voltage products distribution business, which has over 200 branch locations in North America, Europe, and Asia Pacific.

The acquisition of Burtek will enable us to reach new customers, particularly in Canada, where we see solid growth potential, said Tom Polson, president of Honeywells ADI Global Distribution business. As we grow, we have the opportunity to be more efficient, broaden our product portfolio and enhance programs that directly benefit customers. The businesses complement each other–and both Burtek and ADI strongly emphasize customer service and solid vendor relationships.
