Thirty-five-year industry veteran Curt Barad has passed away at 57.

Barad was the owner of Barad Audio Video, a custom design audio video integration company located in Oceanside, NY, about 26 miles east of New York City, on Long Island.

Barad started his career working at Arrow Audio in New York City in the 1970s, Piping Audio and Long Island Sound in the 1980s, as well as Audio Design in the late 1980s and into the 1990s before forming Barad Audio Video with partner Stephen Farishian.

Farishian plans to continue Barad’s legacy and love of the AV business, he told Residential Systems in an email. “Curt was not only my business partner for many years, but…a friend,” Farishian wrote to colleagues announcing Barad’s passing. “With his generosity, kindness, and unique qualities, simply put, to know him was to love him. Curt was a fixture in our industry for decades, and truly was one of the good guys. He will be deeply missed by all who had the honor to know him.”

A funeral service was scheduled for Thursday, February 2. The family has requested that donations can be made to either The American Heart Association or The American Cancer Society in honor of Curt A. Barad.
