Marlboro, NJ–KEF America has released a new turnkey home theater solution designed to provide surround sound utilizing a 2.1 format–the KIT100, or KEF “instant theatre.”
Consisting of a DVD/tuner head unit, a pair of compact speakers and subwoofer, the KIT100 provides an alternative to more complex systems. It employs KEF’s UNI-Q Point Source driver array along with NXT flat-panel technology to deliver all the subtleties and spatial depth of digital formats.
The flat panels, mounted behind the main speaker arrays, create virtual rear effects speakers, while the Uni-Q drivers generate the “phantom” center channel in the middle of the screen. The narrow subwoofer contains all the system’s amplification as well as a 10-inch, long-throw woofer.
Available the first quarter of 2004, the KIT100 will retail for approximately $1500.
