Linear Acquires Panamax

Panamax will join the rest of the Linear network, which includes ChannelPlus, ELAN Home Systems, M&S, OmniMount, SpeakerCraft, and Xantech.

Carlsbad, CA–Linear has purchased Panamax of Petaluma, California, a designer and manufacturer of products for the protection of electronic/electrical equipment from power disturbances. No terms of the purchase were disclosed.

“We are pleased that Panamax is joining our other leading brands for professional installers of home theater and multi-room audio/video systems,” stated Grant D. Rummell, Linear president.

Bill Pollock, president of Panamax, said, “My team and I are especially happy that Panamax is now part of Linears growing network of technology companies. We believe that the advantages of a strong group, including a world-class electronics manufacturing operation, will increase our ability to bring new and innovative products to our global customer base. This is a natural progression for Panamax. As a privately held, 30 year old company Panamax has always been responsive to changes in our economy and society. Becoming part of a larger entity, and specifically one that focuses in our market segment, will allow us numerous opportunities to help our customers grow profitable businesses.”

Panamax makes power conditioning products for home theater electronics, satellite TV systems, household appliances, office equipment, and related electrical systems, including the Max home theater component family.

Linear is a developer of engineered radio frequency products and is a worldwide supplier of wireless residential security systems, intercoms, garage door operators, gate operators, short and long-range radio remote controls, and medical/emergency reporting systems.
